Lakes Region

The beaches of the Lakes Region, in Rio de Janeiro, have long been among the favorites of the locals for a weekend getaway. And more and more the destination is being discovered by travelers from all over the country, especially for offering a huge variety of sand lots, charming inns and even a good gastronomic experience.

The Lake District is an easy destination to visit and fits in every pocket. But the best thing is to know that you will find absolutely sensational beaches! And, believe me, they are many!

The main beaches of the Lagos Region are in the cities of Búzios, Arraial do Cabo and Cabo Frio. And for you to go straight to your favorite, we prepared a special post with details on the best beaches of the three cities. Arraial do Cabo is famous for the multicolored sea, for being an excellent diving point and having some of the most beautiful landscapes of the Lake Region. Búzios enchants the charm of the inns, good gastronomy, lively nightlife and that eternal air of glamor, reminiscent of the times in which the actress Brigitte Bardot made the city known in France. Cabo Frio attracts the infrastructure and the long strips of fine white sand, full of dunes. Find out what your favorite beach is and enjoy the sunshine in the Lakes Region!

Beaches in Arraial do Cabo

Water with different tones, as if it were the Caribbean Sea, has attracted more and more tourists to Arraial do Cabo. The city is very small and until recently it was known only for the boat trips to Praia do Farol. However, the “discovery” of Arraial by tourists from all over Brazil is changing the face of the city, which is no longer just a round trip to become the main destination of those who visit the Lake District.

Although it does not offer as many inns as Búzios and as much commerce as developed as Cabo Frio, Arraial do Cabo certainly has the most impressive beaches of the Lagos Region. Impossible not to get excited when you reach the top of the staircase that leads to the Pratal do Pontal do Atalaia and come across so many shades of sea. It is place to enjoy nature intensely and beaches still very preserved. Not to mention that Arraial do Cabo is one of the best diving destinations in the country, a fact explained especially by the resurgence phenomenon, which brings to the surface deep, cold and food-rich waters. It is not uncommon to see in the Arraial Sea dolphins, stingrays, turtles and even killer whales. A must-see! Besides diving, be sure to take the boat trip to Praia do Farol! This is the only way to get to the beach known for being one of the most beautiful in the country.

Beaches of Búzios

Among the cities of the Lagos Region, Búzios offers the most beaches. There are more than 20 options that can appeal to all tastes. In Búzios there are some deserted beaches, others quite hectic. Beaches that form pools, others with many waves. There are also the beaches formed by long strips of sand, with pink sand and even almost stone beach. It has even nudist beach! Exactly because it is so eclectic, Búzios usually pleases all travelers.

With a drive around the city – the peninsula is only 8 km long – you can choose your favorite sand and enjoy each of them calmly. And best of all is knowing that the beaches of Búzios are easily accessible. No need for long trails, boats or complex shifts. All right! Anyone who wishes can take a trip of schooner, trawler, boat or even a course of trolley to know all the main options of beaches. The important thing is to be sure that sunny days in Buzios will be wonderful, especially as the city also offers excellent gastronomy, bustling nightlife and good shopping options, especially on the famous Rua das Pedras.

Beaches of Cabo Frio

Cabo Frio is the largest city in the Lagos Region. Although it is no longer a small town, Cabo Frio still offers beautiful sandy beaches to enjoy sunny days, starting with the busiest of them, Praia do Forte. The logic of the high season gets even stronger in Cabo Frio, which is crowded into extended holidays and school holidays. Although it is no longer easy to enjoy almost deserted beaches, Cabo Frio is still a good point of support for those who want to explore the entire Lake Region.

Green Coast Region

The region of Costa Verde, including Angra dos Reis, Mangaratiba, Paraty and Ilha Grande, was awarded by Lonely Planet, the world’s largest travel guide, as one of the 10 best regions in the world to travel.

The destination in Rio de Janeiro was in ninth place, near the region of Bavaria, Germany and Hawaii, in the United States. First place went to Transylvania in Romania. According to the latest study carried out by the Ministry of Tourism, the state of Rio de Janeiro is the capital most visited by foreigners who travel to Brazil for faiths, having received 1.59 million international visitors last year. The city of Rio is also the third most desired city for Brazilians, according to the study.

Below some of the main beaches in the region:

Lopes Mendes Beach – on Ilha Grande, is one of the most beautiful beaches in Angra dos Reis, and one of the most beautiful in the world, according to research. Large and of clear sand, the sea has several shades of blue and green, relatively calm sea, in addition to many shades of trees. The access is made by boat or through an ingrime trail.

Lagoa Azul – Also located in Ilha Grande, the attraction is one of the main and most unforgettable tours of the destination, it is a beautiful natural pool where boats anchor and swimmers can jump in their crystalline waters full of fish. Those who can not swim can also enter the water with the help of buoys.

Praia do Caxadaço – A wild and wild paradise, a small beach only 15 meters long, surrounded by lots of vegetation and crystalline sea. Great option for those who are always in search of hidden havens.

Cataguás Island – Next to the continent, it has white sands, transparent and calm sea, ideal for swimming.

Dentist’s Beach – It is one of the most popular beaches on Gipóia Island, the second largest in Angra dos Reis. The sand is extensive and the calm, crystalline and shallow sea turns point of boats, motorboats and yachts. Drinks and snacks are provided by the many floating bars, which serve directly on the moored vessels.

Praia da Figueiras – It is one of the best beaches of Angra dos Reis located on the mainland. To get there you must go down a steep trail or a grand staircase, but the effort is rewarded with crystal clear and calm waters. Difficult access and lack of structure ensure less movement. Do not forget to bring food and drinks.
